Under the supervision of experienced attorneys and legal staff, SkillBridge participants will support case preparation, conduct legal and case-related research, assist with document drafting and organization, and observe client consultations and legal proceedings when appropriate.This program emphasizes the development of transferable professional skills, including legal writing, attention to detail, client communication, confidentiality, and case management. Participants will also gain exposure to law firm operations such as intake processes, scheduling, records management, and professional correspondence.The SkillBridge experience at King Military Law is designed to bridge military service and civilian employment by equipping participants with practical knowledge of the legal field, particularly military law, and preparing them for potential careers as legal assistants, paralegals, or administrative professionals within the legal sector.
The SkillBridge Participant at King Military Law will support daily operations within a law firm focused on military justice. This role is administrative in nature and is best suited for service members with a background in military paralegal work, legal administration, or command level administrative support.Key Responsibilities:-Maintain accurate and up to date case files while ensuring strict confidentiality-Draft and format correspondence, memoranda, and basic legal documents-Coordinate attorney calendars, client consultations, and case related deadlines-Communicate with clients in a professional and timely manner-Organize and maintain digital and physical filing systems-Track suspense dates and assist in ensuring deadlines are met-Provide administrative support to attorneys during case preparationRequired Skills and Qualifications:-Prior experience as a military paralegal, legal clerk, or administrative officer-Strong administrative and organizational skills with high attention to detail-Experience managing sensitive or classified information with discretion-Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard administrative systems-Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment-Clear and professional written and verbal communicationPreferred Qualifications:-Experience supporting courts-martial, administrative separations, or legal actions-Familiarity with military legal processes or command level administration-Strong time management and task tracking experienceLearning Objectives:This SkillBridge opportunity is designed to translate military legal or administrative experience into a civilian legal setting.
