The Policy and Planning IT Specialist supports long-term IT strategies and ensures that TSA policies align with evolving mission and technology requirements. This role requires evaluating emerging standards and regulations and converting them into meaningful internal guidance. Individuals in this area often develop business cases for IT investments and conduct feasibility studies for major projects. They support performance reporting and contribute to ensuring TSA’s IT infrastructure remains scalable, effective, and compliant.
This track prepares SkillBridge participants to contribute directly to TSA’s IT strategy and governance functions. Interns will help revise IT performance metrics, participate in feasibility studies, and provide research to support policy decisions. They’ll gain experience in drafting policy position papers, preparing strategic communications, and aligning IT policies with GAO/OMB guidance. Participants will finish the rotation with a working knowledge of federal IT planning cycles and TSA’s unique mission requirements.
