The Colorado Department of Transportation's (CDOT's) Process Improvement internship program is a partnership. Veterans gain valuable experience in process improvement and related disciplines, while CDOT benefits from the insight, talent and enthusiasm of the Veteran. In addition to providing meaningful, real-world work, our internship program also gives Veterans the opportunity to network with fellow interns and CDOT employees through intern program activities and events.
A Process Improvement Intern can find themselves working on such things as: documenting innovations and creating videos to share with others throughout the state and beyond; working on databases; engaging with larger business improvement projects to help teams work through significant issues and executing improvements; supporting the Concept to Project Program behind the scenes with websites, dashboards, complex spreadsheets, etc. ; working directly with business improvement project leaders to solve problems, provide support and provide fresh perspectives; flowcharting processes to help teams determine current state, future state and gaps; documenting requirements for technology improvements; supporting Rapid Improvement Events and learning about facilitation, Lean and Change Management; writing articles about improvements at CDOT, diving deep into how change management helps people succeed and sharing this knowledge with the world; presenting at a variety of venues to share with others CDOT's story on how we improve and ensure that everyone is successful with change.
The CDOT Office of Process Improvement (OPI) is looking for veterans who have a strong desire to learn and contribute to the Department of Transportation mission. This opportunity is designed to provide a meaningful experience to veterans with proven experience in the areas of process improvement, change management, and project management.
