Aircraft Maintenance Technician Purpose of the role:MHIRJ’s network of service centers, support offices and parts depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in the U.S. The Aircraft Maintenance Technician will perform heavy maintenance (C-Checks) on various regional jet airframes according to strict safety guidelines set by the FAA or other applicable regulatory bodies while complying with environmental, health and safety policies and procedures.
Here are the daily responsibilities of an A&P Technician: • Perform troubleshooting, installations, removals, and inspections on various aircraft.• General mechanical and electrical maintenance and complex repairs on aircraft structures and systems.• Consult maintenance blueprints, manuals, and other documents to assist with troubleshooting and repairs.• Complete tasks within allotted time frames in accordance with FAA (or equivalent) and company standards.• Perform all assigned tasks in a safe and timely manner.• Operate ground support equipment as required. Here is what is required to succeed: • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) or progress towards obtaining (military exp counts!) • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience as an Aircraft Technician (preferred)• MRO experience, CRJ airframe experience and/or Military aircraft maintenance experience (Depot/Isochronal/Phase inspections) are a plus.• Strong troubleshooting skills.• Comfortable working with technology / entering aircraft maintenance actions into a computer-based system.• Ability to effectively communicate aircraft maintenance actions both verbally and in writing. This SkillBridge program provides transitioning service members with hands-on training in a commercial aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) environment. Participants work alongside experienced technicians while learning aviation maintenance procedures, safety practices, and regulatory compliance used in the civilian aviation industry.Phase 1 – Orientation & Safety (Weeks 1–2)• Hangar safety procedures and OSHA standards• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)• Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention• Tool control programs• Aircraft maintenance documentation systemsPhase 2 – Systems Familiarization (Weeks 3–6)• Aircraft systems overview• Aircraft inspection procedures• Maintenance manuals and technical documentation• Basic component removal and installationPhase 3 – Maintenance Operations (Weeks 7–16)• Scheduled aircraft inspections• Aircraft servicing procedures• Component removal and installation• Maintenance documentation and work cardsPhase 4 – Advanced Training & Workforce Integration (Weeks 17–24)• Aircraft system diagnostics• Maintenance workflow coordination• Quality and safety compliance• Exposure to supervisory or advanced technical responsibilitiesExpected OutcomesParticipants will develop operational leadership skills required for supervisory roles within commercial aviation maintenance operations. An FAA A&P license is required or the participant must be actively working toward obtaining one.
