Enforcement Removal Assistant
Interns will be introduced to the ICE organization and its structure, mission, vision, and values. Interns will also be introduced to Enforcement and Removal operations and its various functions. Finally, students will learn about the role of Enforcement Removal Assistant for ERO and many duties that fall under the Enforcement Removal Assistant at the Field Office level.
ABOUT THE JOB
Case Management: Interns will receive immigration files, update various computer systems with case information, closeout cases, prepare release and removal documents, ensure file accountability, liaison with the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, Executive Office of Immigration Review, attorneys.Interns will learn to maintain a detained/non detained docket, how to input vital information into various computer systems (EARM, RAILS, etc), how to create case call ups, update case actions and make case comments in EARM, create removal and or release paperwork (OSUP, OREC, Parole, etc), and how the immigration court process works. Records Management: Interns will learn how records are ordered, how filing of records occurs, how files are created, how to use computer systems for tracking files, how the mail room tracks incoming and departing files and how to create file barcodes.Interns will create file barcodes, order files from National Records Center (NRC), return files to NRC, receive incoming files, file files, consolidate files, manage mail room, assist with Freedom of Information Act requests. Removal Management: Interns will learn how to create removal packets, how to requests seats on removal flights, how to get travel documents in computer systems, how to get medical clearances for flights, how to obtain/create removal manifests, how to get travel itineraries for commercial removals, how to prepare removal packets and maintain flight calendars. Interns will learn what is needed for removal packets. How to request seats from ICE air operations and how to request via the T-8 system, how to use eTD for travel documents, how to contact Omega and ICE air to request itineraries for commercial removals, what documents are needed in removal packets and how to keep and manage flight calendars. Bond Management: Students will learn the bond process for detained and non-detained units, the difference between cash or surety bonds, cancelling of bonds, breaching of bonds, delivery bonds, voluntary departure bonds, demand notices, and how to perform a manual bond when the system is offline.Interns will learn how to initiate immigration bonds, track the status of bonds in real time, process a cash and or surety bonds, how to complete bond paperwork in EARM, how to prepare cancellation letters and how to make bond deposits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive immigration files, update various computer systems with case information, closeout cases, prepare release and removal documents, ensure file accountability.
