Data Security AnalystThe Data Security Analyst SkillBridge position provides transitioning service members with practical experience supporting enterprise data protection, privacy, and security operations. Participants in this role will assist with initiatives that protect sensitive and regulated information across business and technology environments. The position offers exposure to data security strategy, data loss prevention, privacy requirements, database security, governance, and secure handling of information across cloud and on-premises platforms.Through mentorship, structured on-the-job training, and participation in real-world projects, SkillBridge participants will build foundational experience in analyzing data security requirements, supporting security controls, documenting standards and procedures, and coordinating with cross-functional technology teams. This role is designed to help participants translate military experience into civilian careers in cybersecurity, information assurance, data protection, governance, and risk management.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesData Security Program SupportSupport enterprise data security efforts by assisting with initiatives that integrate security requirements into data-related programs, projects, and operational activities. Help maintain alignment between business needs, security expectations, and data protection objectives. Contribute to the implementation and ongoing support of security controls intended to safeguard sensitive, confidential, and regulated information.Project Coordination and Requirements SupportAssist with enterprise projects involving data security, privacy, and database protection by gathering requirements, maintaining documentation, tracking action items, and supporting follow-through on assigned tasks. Participate in project discussions and help evaluate proposed solutions from a data security, privacy, and infrastructure protection perspective under the guidance of senior team members.Documentation, Standards, and Process ImprovementHelp document data security processes, standards, procedures, and best practices to support consistent execution and compliance. Assist in the development of reference materials, awareness content, and training documentation that promote secure handling of information across the organization. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying documentation gaps, process inefficiencies, or areas requiring stronger security controls.Protection of Sensitive and Regulated DataSupport senior team members in identifying and applying safeguards to protect data stored in or transmitted through virtual and physical systems. Assist with the development, review, and maintenance of data loss prevention (DLP) policies, handling procedures, and associated control documentation. Help track control status, risks, remediation items, and improvements related to data protection efforts.Reporting and Stakeholder SupportPrepare status updates, summaries, and supporting materials related to data security controls, privacy considerations, and risk-reduction efforts for leadership and project stakeholders. 5 years relevant cloud experience, certification is preferred
