Pest Control Technician Training
Thrasher Pest Control's SkillBridge job training program prepares separating service members for a career of purpose and opportunity in professional pest management. By the completion of the 16-week program participants will have earned seven national and state professional certifications and be prepared to pass California licensing exams (two of the most challenging pest exams in the U.S.). Whether they continue with Thrasher Pest Control or move to another pest control operator, participants will have the skills to be employed as a qualified Pest Control Technician. During training 70% of your time is spent on OJT under the guidance of a senior pest control technician, 10% of your time will be with a mentor, and 20% of your time is spent in lecture, lab, group discussion, and on-line training.
ABOUT THE JOB
Pest Control Technicians are essential to our mission of protecting public health and property. The Pest Control Technician is responsible for speaking with potential customers and genuinely listening to their concerns, conducting extensive inspections for pests, problem solving, quoting an appropriate pest control program, and closing the sale. They are also responsible for controlling pests such as insects, arachnids, and rodents. In both residential and commercial settings, these career professionals help manage pest species that are capable of damaging structures, contaminating food, and transmitting potentially life-threatening diseases. The position requires technical knowledge coupled with strong communication skills, dependability, attention to detail, cooperative attitude, integrity, initiative, adaptability, and analytical thinking. Pest control technicians find satisfaction in a job well done, enjoy working independently and outdoors, want to help people, and value learning and sharing their technical knowledge. PROGRAM COST
NO COST for job training. Optional licensing fees: $190 total for licensing and livescan paid directly to providers—no money is paid to Thrasher Pest Control.
