The service member will receive structured training designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of a biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Technician. Training may include exposure to fermentation, purification, media and buffer preparation, equipment operations, and other manufacturing processes based on business needs and departmental assignments.The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting manufacturing operations within a regulated GMP environment while applying current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Responsibilities may include equipment cleaning and sanitization, process support activities, manufacturing execution, production documentation, and adherence to established quality, safety, and compliance requirements.Work schedules and reporting hours will be determined by the assigned department and training objectives. Internship participation will not exceed 40 hours per week and will be conducted in accordance with Department of Defense SkillBridge program requirements.
The internship will initially follow a Monday–Friday schedule consisting of 8-hour workdays. Based on operational requirements and production schedules, the assignment may transition to a 12-hour night shift to support manufacturing operations.The intern will support manufacturing activities in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and established procedures, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Procedures (MPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and applicable regulatory requirements. Training will emphasize safety, quality, compliance, proper gowning practices, and aseptic techniques within a regulated biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment.Training and responsibilities may include:• Operating, monitoring, setting up, cleaning, and sanitizing manufacturing equipment and production areas.• Executing manufacturing processes in accordance with approved procedures and batch records.• Performing in-process sampling and operating analytical and process-monitoring equipment.• Completing production documentation, including Electronic Batch Records (EBRs), equipment logs, and related GMP records.• Supporting washroom operations and cleaning activities for production equipment ranging from small- to large-scale systems.• Identifying, escalating, and assisting in the resolution of operational issues while collaborating with manufacturing personnel and support teams.• Participating in production activities alongside cross-functional partners, including Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), Facilities & Engineering (F&E), Production Planning and Inventory Control (PPIC), Manufacturing, Process Development (PD), and Regulatory Affairs.Internship schedules and reporting hours will be determined by the assigned department and training objectives and will not exceed 40 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications:• BioWork Certificate, associate degree, or a minimum of 2.5 years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or manufacturing experience.Required Qualifications:• High school diploma or equivalent.• Minimum of 3 years of honorable military service.• Eligibility to participate in the Department of Defense SkillBridge or Career Skills Program (CSP), as applicable.
