Maintenance Tech Program Internship
The internship will prepare you to be a Maintenance Technician upon hire and completion of the first 90 days of the Maintenance Technician Training Program. There is no guarantee of a permanent placement with J.B. Hunt, however we will only bring on an intern if there is a high probability of a permanent placement with a shop in your preferred location. If you go into the management track, you will be prepared for promotion to Maintenance Manager upon hire.

ABOUT THE JOB
Participants will train on preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and basic repairs for diesel tractor maintenance. This includes the fuel system, battery, engine, drive train, onboard computer, transmission, air brake systems and Federal Highway Administration inspections. Participants who go into trailer repair will gain a foundational knowledge of preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and basic repairs as it pertains trailer maintenance, air brake systems, and Federal Highway Administration inspections.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Train on preventative maintenance and replacement of parts/components for diesel tractor maintenance.
- Learn basic repairs for diesel tractor maintenance including fuel system, battery, engine, drive train, onboard computer, transmission, air brake systems, and Federal Highway Administration inspections.
- Gain foundational knowledge of preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and basic repairs for trailer maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 year of experience in maintenance or repair and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience for Maintenance Tech.
- Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of relevant professional experience or Non-Commissioned Officer with at least 3 years of supervisory experience (minimum E-4) for Maintenance Manager.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY
Preferred qualifications: Maintenance Tech - 1 year of experience in maintenance or repair and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. All ranks/rates considered. Maintenance Manager - bachelor’s degree with 1 year of relevant professional experience or Non-Commissioned Officer with at least 3 years of supervisory experience (minimum E-4).
