The AV/VTC Infrastructure Technician trainee will support AV and VTC system installation and maintenance tasks across commercial and federal environments. Under the guidance of GC Associates AV/VTC/Infrastructure Technicians and Professionals, with decades of AV experience in system design, implementation, operation and maintenance; the trainee will learn cable pulling, system layout, basic system troubleshooting, and field documentation processes.

ABOUT THE JOB

Duties and Responsibilities • Assist with AV and VTC system installations, maintenance, and system testing• Pull, label, dress, and terminate cabling (Layer 1 infrastructure tasks).• Participate in daily system operations and troubleshooting at federal sites• Set up mock systems in the lab for testing, configuration, and documentation • Complete company orientation, safety training, and AV fundamentals modules • Work in compliance with base access procedures, site safety, and contractor standards• Attend live VTC events and gain experience with AV system support and operations• Participate in certifications and e-learning through AVIXA, Kramer, Extron, Dante, and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up mock systems in the lab for testing, configuration, and documentation
  • Complete company orientation, safety training, and AV fundamentals modules
  • Work in compliance with base access procedures, site safety, and contractor standards
  • Attend live VTC events and gain experience with AV system support and operations
  • Participate in certifications and e-learning through AVIXA, Kramer, Extron, Dante, and more

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be an active-duty service member
  • Within the final 180 days of service
  • Command-approved to participate in a full-time SkillBridge program
  • Able to commit to 10 weeks (400 hours) of full-time training
  • Available for in-person, hands-on training at AV job sites and DoD facilities
  • Active Secret clearance preferred or ability to obtain base access approval through standard background screening
  • Strong interest in audio-visual systems, video teleconferencing, IT/networking, or infrastructure support
  • Comfortable with physical tasks such as cable pulling, equipment setup, and system walkthroughs
  • Willing to follow safety protocols, wear PPE, and work on active job sites
  • Demonstrates punctuality, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Open to feedback, coachable, and able to work with experienced AV professionals

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY

Active-Duty Status & DoD SkillBridge Approval •Must be an active-duty service member •Within the final 180 days of service •Command-approved to participate in a full-time SkillBridge program •Full-Time Availability •Able to commit to 10 weeks (400 hours) of full-time training •Available for in-person, hands-on training at AV job sites and DoD facilities Security and Access Requirements •Active Secret clearance preferred •Or ability to obtain base access approval through standard background screening Interest in Technical and AV Work •Prior AV experience is not required – training will be provided •Strong interest in audio-visual systems, video teleconferencing, IT/networking, or infrastructure support •Willingness to Learn and Work in the Field •Comfortable with physical tasks such as cable pulling, equipment setup, and system walkthroughs •Willing to follow safety protocols, wear PPE, and work on active job sites •Professionalism and Communication •Demonstrates punctuality, teamwork, and communication skills •Open to feedback, coachable, and able to work with experienced AV professionals

OTHER

Training will be conducted primarily at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam and various commercial AV job sites in the Honolulu area. The program involves hands-on, field-based work including cable pulling, AV/VTC system installation, troubleshooting, and system demonstrations. Participants must have or be able to obtain base access approval; a Secret clearance is preferred. Safety protocols, including PPE use, are integral to all site activities. Travel to multiple locations within the area may be required.
