Bridge the gap between military technical expertise and the critical infrastructure that powers Maine’s economy. As an Engineering Tech I Trainee at the Maine Turnpike Authority, you will translate your military discipline into hands-on civil engineering and project management. Working from our Portland headquarters and active field sites, you will assist in bridge and highway inspections, technical data collection, and construction monitoring. This role is designed for a transitioning service member looking to pivot their technical, mechanical, or construction skills into a professional career maintaining the 109 miles of the Maine Turnpike.
The Engineering Technician I performs skilled technical work at a sub-professional level in engineering activities. This includes inspecting contractor traffic control, conducting material tests, supporting construction projects, managing engineering instruments, and assisting in survey operations. The technician also collects data, prepares sketches, and supports project management and environmental compliance.
• Service Status: Must be an active-duty service member within 180 days of separation (EAS/EAOS/RETSHO).• Command Authorization: Must obtain written approval from their Unit Commander prior to start date.• Conduct: Must be in good standing and eligible for an Honorable Discharge.
