Associated Training Services (ATS) is a private education and training school offering entry level training programs for heavy equipment operators, crane operators, riggers, signalpersons, and Class-A CDL truck drivers. ATS’s heavy equipment programs include equipment such as wheel loaders, backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, scrapers, motor graders and skid steers. ATS’s crane programs include telescopic boom cranes, lattice boom cranes, tower cranes, articulated boom cranes and digger derricks. ATS’s crane programs help students get certified through the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO).
A Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates machinery like dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, scrapers, motor graders, skid steers, haul trucks and telehandlers to move materials, prepare sites, and build structures, requiring skills in pre/post-shift inspections, basic maintenance, teamwork, adherence to safety, and physical stamina for heavy labor and working in various conditions. They coordinate with teams, read plans, and maintain logs, ensuring project completion while minimizing risks and reporting issues, making them crucial for construction, mining, and road work. Key Responsibilities:• Operation: Maneuver heavy machinery like dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, scrapers, motor graders, skid steers, haul trucks and telehandlers.• Site Prep: Excavate, move, grade earth, prepare surfaces for paving, and manage material placement.• Maintenance: Perform daily inspections, check fluids, clean equipment, and conduct minor repairs, reporting major issues.• Safety: Adhere strictly to safety codes, wear required PPE, follow hand signals/radios, and communicate hazards.• Coordination: Work with supervisors and crews, understand project plans, and communicate project needs.• Documentation: Complete logs, reports, and record maintenance/usage data
