We are seeking skilled service members to join our team as Central Communications Operators or Senior Central Communications Operators.
Central Communications Operators serve as the communication hub for Sentara hospitals and care sites, ensuring timely and accurate coordination of both emergency and non-emergency communications. In a fast-paced, 24/7 environment, they initiate emergency alerts, manage overhead announcements and paging systems, and connect clinical teams, leadership, and on-call providers during critical situations. They also support daily operations by handling high-volume calls, routing inquiries, and delivering excellent customer service with strong attention to detail and adaptability. Building on this foundation, the Senior Central Communications Operator serves as an expert-level operator and peer trainer, managing complex and high-priority communications while supporting after-hours operations and acting as a key escalation resource during critical incidents. In addition to advanced operational responsibilities, Senior Operators provide hands-on training and coaching to team members, reinforcing best practices, strengthening team competency, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement within a high-performing, 24/7 healthcare environment.
