Hands-on training in custom home construction with a focus on craftsmanship, safety, and modern building techniques. Participants gain experience in framing, carpentry, site operations, material handling, and finish work while learning the full lifecycle of residential homebuilding. Training includes exposure to green-built and energy-efficient construction practices. Designed for transitioning service members seeking a new trade or career path; no prior construction experience required.
Assist with basic carpentry tasks including framing, trim work, and simple installations under supervision. Support site preparation, material staging, and job site organization. Learn safe operation of hand tools and common power tools. Help install windows, doors, flooring, and interior finishes. Participate in daily briefings, safety meetings, and progress updates. Maintain clean and orderly work areas. Observe and support subcontractors across multiple trades including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. Follow OSHA-aligned safety practices and Corner Rock’s job site standards. Work is primarily outdoors on active residential construction sites with exposure to weather, noise, and typical construction conditions. The role is physically active and includes standing, bending, lifting, and climbing. Ideal for motivated learners who want to develop new skills, enjoy hands-on work, and are interested in a long-term career in residential construction or custom homebuilding.
Active-duty Service Members eligible for DoD SkillBridge (command approval required). Must work well with others. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, work outdoors, and perform physical tasks safely. Must have reliable transportation to Corner Rock’s office and job sites. Comfortable working in variable weather and active construction environments. Interest in learning carpentry, homebuilding, and the residential trades.
