Key Point: VSO employees are County Employees. While we are trained by and have access to the VA Claims system, we represent the veteran and not the VA. Typical programs that veterans access through the VSO include service-connected disability, war time pension, dependency and indemnity compensation, pension/life insurance, college fee waiver, discharge upgrades, records requests, VA home loans, VA health care, veteran designation, etc. This is an excellent role for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys variety, and wants to make an impact in the local community.
