Subsurface Utility Engineering Site Survey Technician

ABOUT THE JOB

AECOM offers a comprehensive suite of subsurface utility engineering (SUE), private utility locating and services to its diverse customer base composed of Engineering, Environmental, Utility, Surveying, and other Construction, and Infrastructure. We are seeking a SUE Site Survey Technician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to start a career with an internationally-known infrastructure consulting firm. Summary: Utilize advanced geophysical equipment, observational skills, and deductive reasoning to identify, designate and locate (vacuum excavation) utilities within a requested job scope in accordance with ASCE 38-02 & 38-22. Utilize existing troubleshooting skills and learn new procedures and technologies. Minimum Requirements: HS Diploma.Subsurface Utility Engineering, private locating, and/or surveying experience.Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.Position requires frequent traveling to field locations. Locations and distances vary and could include occasional overnight travel.Frequent lifting of equipment up to 50 pounds unassisted. Frequent outdoor work in a variety of seasonal weather conditions. Daily walking several miles to perform job duties. Frequently across outdoor construction environments with a variety of uneven terrains such as mud, rock, grass, dirt, and other unpaved terrains and variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise.Preferred Qualifications:Experience and understanding of SUE practices and procedures in accordance with ASCE 38-02 & 38-22Detailed-oriented and ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude.Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize advanced geophysical equipment to identify, designate, and locate utilities within a requested job scope in accordance with ASCE 38-02 & 38-22.
  • Utilize observational skills and deductive reasoning in utility identification and location.
  • Perform vacuum excavation duties as part of utility location.
  • Frequent traveling to field locations with variable conditions and terrains.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering, private locating, and/or surveying.
  • Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Ability to frequently travel, including occasional overnight travel.
  • Capability to lift equipment up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and walk several miles daily.
