Paralegals assist trial attorneys, draft documents, conduct legal research, review case files, and assist with witness interviews. The position also includes a range of administrative duties that support a busy litigation environment. Our litigation work supports the Department of Labor and the agencies that protect workers’ pay, benefits, safety, and health. We work closely with agencies such as the Wage and Hour Division, the Mine Safety and Health Administration, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Employee Benefits Security Administration, among others. Beyond litigation, we also provide legal advice and opinions to these agencies and, when appropriate, to the public.As a SkillBridge participant working with our paralegal team, you’ll gain exposure to the full rhythm of federal litigation and see up close how cases move from investigation to court. You may assist with organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, drafting research summaries, or helping attorneys get ready for depositions, hearings, or settlement discussions. There are opportunities to sit in on witness interviews, observe strategy meetings, and see how a legal team pulls together the many moving parts of a case on behalf of workers and the agencies that protect them.
