This position is responsible for managing the installation’s electronic security and force protection systems, including IDS, ESS, access control, CCTV, and supporting network infrastructure. Oversees full lifecycle planning, design, integration, and modernization of security technologies, ensuring compliance with DoD and Army regulations. Conducts risk assessments, develops policies, and leads major system upgrades involving advanced capabilities such as AI driven analytics and UAS support. Administers enterprise network components, leads incident response, and provides expert troubleshooting. Serves as program manager, technical advisor, and trainer for security and IT personnel, ensuring the security posture and mission readiness of the installation.
This position serves as a senior technical specialist responsible for the installations Intrusion Detection System (IDS) / Electronic Security Systems (ESS), and force protection network infrastructure to include tenant unit support for the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP), RI-Contracting, OLD and other tenant operations. Responsible for managing the full lifecycle of security systems, from planning and design to implementation and optimization, promoting overall program development consistent with advancements in technology, providing funding input to supervisor, training personnel, coordination with customers, coordination of new equipment (both hardware and software) installation, providing technical guidance on cybersecurity compliance and the selection and implementation of current and updated security technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to enhance mission readiness and security posture.1. Serves as the Program Manager and Security Systems Administrator (SSA) for the installation electronic security infrastructure, including Intrusion Detection System (IDS) access controls andClosed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems throughout the installation for intrusion assessment , and multiple entry control subsystems to control ingress and egress to the installation, or areas and structures within the installation . Manages the entire system lifecycle, developing long-range strategic plans, defining technical requirements, and overseeing the design, installation, and integration of secure fiber optic and copper network architectures. Works with minimal supervision to resolve critical problems in complex, integrated security environments. (40%)2.Leads comprehensive risk assessments and security audits of physical and digital infrastructure. Serves as the senior advisor on interpreting and implementing Department of Defense (DoD) and Army regulations (e.g., AR 190-13, AR 25-2, AR 380-5). Develops and authors installation-level policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure full compliance and mitigate vulnerabilities across all networked security systems. (25%)3.Evaluates and recommends commercially off the shelf (COTS) security system upgrades for integrating advanced technologies to enhance force protection capabilities . Serves as a project manager for the installation and upgrade of security system implementation efforts for solutions such as AI-driven threat analytics, machine learning for anomaly detection, and the use of UAS for automated surveillance and reconnaissance missions, ensuring they are securely and effectively incorporated into the existing security framework. (15%)4.Enterprise System Administration & Incident Response: Manages and secures critical network infrastructure, including enterprise-level switches, routers, and Linux-based servers. Applies advanced troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve complex system failures. Required to lift up to 50 lbs when troubleshooting and diagnosing issues. Serves as a technical lead during high-impact security incidents, directing response efforts, conducting forensic analysis, and developing after-action reports for senior leadership. Acts as a spokesperson for the organization assigned areas of responsibility. Represents the organization at conferences and meetings to exchange data and discuss technical issues. Confers with representatives from other government agencies, private industry, and users to ensure an exchange of technical information, ideas, and procedures. (15%)5.Provides expert technical guidance, training, and mentorship to other security personnel, IT specialists and contractors. Develops and refines training programs on security protocols, network operations, and system administration to ensure workforce proficiency. (5%)Performs other duties as assigned.
