Fleet Mechanic Diesel Technician
Our US FOODS® Diesel Technicians are responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of the Fleet Road equipment including tractor, trailer, thermo-king, converter dolly, and maintenance vehicles. Ensuring compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. Mechanics will also be responsible for the documentation, completion, and keeping of current maintenance logs for all repairs and parts used daily. The position will be required to perform road rescue as needed. Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.)
ABOUT THE JOB
Education/Training:High School Diploma/RequiredRelated Experience/Requirements: A valid Class-A CDL license and DOT certification are preferred but not required. (3) years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic or a combination of both; or (2) years of verifiable hands-on experience with either Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification or both.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to comply with EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations as pertaining to the shop and fleetAbility to read and understand technical and service manualsSuccessfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication skills; able to communicate with co-workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skillsAbility to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Fleet Road equipment including tractor, trailer, thermo-king, converter dolly, and maintenance vehicles.
- Ensuring compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations.
- Documentation, completion, and keeping of current maintenance logs for all repairs and parts used daily.
- Perform road rescue as needed.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment such as tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Class-A CDL license and DOT certification preferred but not required.
- Three years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic or a combination of both; or two years of verifiable hands-on experience with either Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification or both.
- Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations as pertaining to the shop and fleet.
- Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals.
- Independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
