Service members' will gain skills as a VA Police officer within the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration by attending an in-resident 8-10 week course at the VA Law Enforcement Training Center in Little Rock, AR. Once, completed the Service member will be credentialed as a VA police officer and able to carry out law and order functions within a health care system. Assignment will be based on critical staffing needs with consideration of the Service members' needs as well.
Entry police officer position. Able to execute criminal investigations and produce a well rounded written report, which may be reviewed by executive leadership and the US Attorney's Office locally for referral for prosecution. Providing law and order functions on a within a medical center environment by promoting a safe and secure environment for Veterans, staff and visitors. Conducting physical security checks as needed to protected VA assets and facilities. Services are provided 24 hours 365 days a year. Shifts are based locally.
Service member will be required to pay for their travel to and from VA Law Enforcement Training Center in Little Rock, AR. Cost of travel is dependent from where the Service member is traveling from. No cost for training.
