City of Tucson Skillbridge Internship Program (Administrative Opportunities)

Under general direction, is responsible for performing professional-level work planning, coordinating, implementing, and overseeing the City's Economic Initiatives, specifically those activities related to small business assistance and entrepreneurial support.

ABOUT THE JOB

• Contribute to the implementation of the City’s business retention program involving meeting with local microenterprises and small business owners to assess and address problems and opportunities.• Staff the business assistance line and 311 calls. • Assist local business with connections to community resources and technical or financial assistance; offer bilingual support when necessary.• Develop relationships with partner organizations in economic and workforce development to better connect local business to these resources; create strategies for more effective assistance and platforms to assist business.• Report out on metrics related to business assistance and program performance.• Provide technical support to small business and entrepreneurs, and coordinate connections to provide enhanced services to the Hispanic community and minority businesses which may include specific support for Legacy Businesses in Tucson and Start-ups.• Contribute to programs to address redevelopment and revitalization of commercial areas throughout the City, specifically focused on predominantly Spanish-speaking corridors and neighborhoods.• Analyze data and make specific recommendations regarding strategic planning and implementation.• Prepare and maintain performance and statistical reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES✨

• Answer and process emergency and non-emergency calls to gather and record information to assess the level and type of response needed.
• Provide radio support and dispatch first responder units to calls for service.
• Serve as a crucial link between those in need of service and first responders.
• Utilize Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to input incident data and prioritize requests for emergency response.
• Maintain records of emergency response times and unit locations within CAD and mapping systems.

QUALIFICATIONS✨

• Ability to operate multiple administrative telephone lines and utilize language service providers.
• Skill in using geographical maps to pinpoint caller locations and manage unit tracking.
• Capability to process time-sensitive information and coordinate the dispatch of appropriate first responder units.
• Experience or ability to learn and use Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems under strict time constraints.
