The opportunity is outlined below in terms of the Bio Medical Cranial Implant Designer position description and training plan.

ABOUT THE JOB

Job Description - The Cranial Implant Designer supports a method for performing a cranioplasty which comprises of creating a cranial, craniofacial, and/or facial defect, positioning a craniofacial implant over the cranial, craniofacial, and/or facial defect, defining a boundary of the cranial, craniofacial, and/or facial defect on the craniofacial implant, shaping the custom craniofacial implant based upon the boundary of the cranial, craniofacial, and/or facial defect defined on the craniofacial implant for optimal fit of the craniofacial implant along the cranial, craniofacial, and/or facial defect. To accomplish this approach, preoperative imaging such as computed tomography (CT) is used ahead-of-time to identify the patient's exact skull and brain anatomy and the patient's exact skull curvature (since all patients have different curvatures based on region, gender, and age). The Custom Cranial Implant Designer must import the CT scans into Longeviti’s CAD systems and evaluate the integrity of the scans and their conformance to Longeviti standards in terms of completeness, resolution, and gantry tilt. The Cranial Implant Designer role requires a strong understanding of industry-specific software, and the ability to translate complex information about the cranial anatomy into clear and accurate custom cranial implant design representations for fabrication. The Cranial Implant Designer must possess strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure that projects are completed efficiently and accurately. The Cranial Implant Designer is responsible for developing and integrating requirements to establish implant design. Utilize 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and other design methods to develop, maintain, and modify design of custom, patient specific cranial implants.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support a method for performing a cranioplasty which includes creating and positioning a craniofacial implant over a defect and shaping the implant based on defined boundaries.
  • Use preoperative imaging like computed tomography (CT) to identify patient-specific skull and brain anatomy and curvature for implant design.
  • Import CT scans into Longeviti's CAD systems, evaluate the integrity of the scans, and ensure they meet Longeviti standards in terms of completeness, resolution, and gantry tilt.
  • Utilize 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and other design methods to develop, maintain, and modify design of custom, patient-specific cranial implants.
  • Ensure seamless product definition across engineering teams, production operations, and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A solid working understanding of the human cranial anatomy.
  • Ability to interpret requirements and specifications from neurosurgeons.
  • Ability to take surgeon requirements and specifications for cranial implants from concept to proposal.
  • Materialize & Mimics Computer-Aided Design software experience.
  • Setting and adhering to the schedule for design of custom cranial implants from CT scan import and evaluation to final proposal approval.
  • Experience with Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Non-Conformance Report (NCR) Experience.
