The Piney Green Volunteer Fire Department is offering a 12-week SkillBridge Training Program designed to prepare transitioning service members for a career in the fire service. Under the supervision of experienced instructors, trainees will gain hands-on experience in firefighting operations, emergency response, and public service—all while meeting the North Carolina Firefighter Training Certificate Program (580G Task Book) standards.
Conduct daily apparatus and equipment inspections to ensure operational readiness.Maintain accurate inventories of tools and life-safety equipment.Complete training and practical evaluations aligned with NFPA 1001 and the 580G Task Book.Prepare detailed reports and documentation of training and emergency simulations.Acquire district-level geographic knowledge, including routes, hydrants, and landmarks.Assist with daily station duties, including maintenance and cleanliness.Engage with the community and participate in outreach or public safety events.Perform other duties as assigned by PGVFD leadership.
