The Electrical Pathway at the Volt Center is an intensive workforce training program designed to launch careers in the electrical trades. Utilizing the industry-recognized NCCER curriculum, students receive hands-on training in blueprint reading, National Electrical Code (NEC) compliance, and the installation of residential and commercial wiring. Graduates leave fully equipped with the safety credentials and practical skills needed to secure immediate employment as electrical helpers, industrial maintenance trainees, and low-voltage technicians.
Conduit & Raceway Installation: Apply hand-bending techniques to accurately measure, bend, cut, and thread conduit. Install raceways, cable trays, pull boxes, and junction boxes according to site plans.Wire Pulling & Terminations: Assist in pulling wire and cable through conduit. Perform secure, code-compliant conductor terminations and splices.Lighting & Device Installation: Install interior and exterior lighting fixtures, device boxes, switches, and receptacles in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).Grounding & Bonding: Assist in the proper grounding and bonding of electrical systems to ensure site safety and code compliance.Blueprint Reading: Utilize your knowledge of basic electrical construction drawings to interpret layouts and locate where panels, circuits, and fixtures should be installed.Testing & Safety: Safely use basic electrical test equipment (multimeters, voltage testers) to verify circuits are de-energized and troubleshoot basic faults. Maintain a strict adherence to OSHA and company safety protocols at all times.

This course is designed to cover the principles of electrical wiring as it applies to commercial/ residential applications. Emphasis is on Ohm's law, alternating and direct currents, series circuits, parallel circuits, and series parallel circuits, use of electrical tools and equipment, wiring materials and many other special subjects. Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting as well as the National Electrical Code will be covered.
