The Fiber Splicing Training Program prepares participants for deployment into fiber splicing roles through a combination of safety readiness, technical instruction, and applied field training. The program focuses on core splicing responsibilities such as reviewing splice prints and circuit documentation, identifying and verifying fibers, performing OTDR and continuity testing, completing fusion splicing tasks, protecting live traffic during cutovers, and producing accurate labels, photos, and closeout records. Participants are trained to work safely, communicate clearly, and perform effectively in outside plant, construction-like, and team-based field environments.
The primary responsibilities of the fiber splicer will be to splice fiber optic cables in both outdoor and indoor settings, read, create and maintain splicing schematics and diagrams, maintain control of outside/inside plant (OSP) activities surrounding the assigned work site(s), taking and maintaining accurate splicing and field notes, support project timelines, and inspecting, designing and providing accurate staking sheets for projects. Other duties, responsibilities and qualifications may be required and/or assigned. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)
