This SkillBridge program is designed to provide a transitioning service member with practical, hands-on experience in the field of government contracting and procurement. The program will expose the participant to various aspects of the contracting lifecycle, from pre-award activities like market research and solicitation preparation to post-award activities like contract administration and closeout. The participant will work alongside experienced contracting professionals, gaining valuable skills and knowledge to enhance their career prospects in the civilian sector.
Upon completion of this SkillBridge program, the participant will be able to:1. Understand the basic principles and regulations governing government contracting (FAR, DFARS, etc.).2. Conduct market research to identify potential vendors and assess market conditions.3. Assist in the preparation of solicitations (RFPs, RFQs, IFBs).4. Evaluate proposals and offers in accordance with established criteria.5. Assist in contract negotiations and award procedures.6. Perform contract administration tasks, including tracking performance, managing modifications, and resolving disputes.7. Understand the principles of cost and pricing analysis.8. Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with government contracts.9. Use common contracting software and tools.10. Understand the ethical considerations in government contracting.
