The Microelectronics and Nanomanufacturing Certification Program hosted by the Center for Nanotechnology Education and Utilization (CNEU) at Penn State University gives service members an immersive experience in the areas of nanotechnology and semiconductor manufacturing. During the program trainees will learn the fundamental processes used to manufacture the micro and nano sized devices which power our everyday lives. Service members will hear from a large variety of companies throughout the program. Trainees will be assisted with resume development, professional development, and equipped with technical and hands-on skills to help them land careers in nanotechnology, semiconductor, or adjacent industries.
ABOUT THE JOB
Service members will attend lectures every day, and hands-on labs 2-3 times a week, throughout the program. They will be trained on semiconductor manufacturing, nanotechnology, and nanocharacterization. Trainees will be assessed through regular homework assignments, online lab activities, and quizzes. Trainees will be responsible for attending all in-person hands-on labs at their specific opportunity location. Students will be expected to develop their resume and apply to at least 3 companies of interest during their time in the program under the supervision and support from CNEU leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend lectures every day
- Participate in hands-on labs 2-3 times a week
- Complete regular homework assignments, online lab activities, and quizzes
- Attend all in-person hands-on labs at their specific opportunity location
- Develop their resume and apply to at least 3 companies of interest during their time in the program
QUALIFICATIONS
- Background in science and basic math
- Familiarity with electronics, mechanics, or mechatronics
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY
Candidates should have a background in science and basic math, and a familiarity with electronics, mechanics, or mechatronics.
