Holliday Rock has been in the construction material business for over eighty-eight years and is one of the largest independent producers of aggregate, concrete and asphalt in the United States. A diesel mechanic performs mechanical work at the journeyman mechanic level in repairing, maintaining and testing all types of truck, automotive, on highway, off highway, and ready-mix equipment.Position OverviewThe OTR/HE (Over-the-Road/Heavy Equipment) Repair Technician is responsible for performing skilled mechanical work on a wide range of vehicles and equipment, including trucks, automotive, on-highway, off-highway, and ready-mix equipment. This role includes participation in a 12-week structured training program designed to equip technicians with industry-recognized certifications and hands-on experience to support long-term success in the position.
ABOUT THE JOB
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Class 8 trucks, off-road heavy construction equipment, and ready-mix vehicles.- Diagnose, repair, and test systems including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, emission controls, brake systems, and HVAC.- Utilize OEM diagnostic software such as Cummins Insite, CAT ET, Volvo Connect, and Komatsu systems to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.- Conduct inspections in compliance with federal and state regulations, including DOT, CalDOT, and BIT programs.- Complete accurate documentation of inspections, repairs, and parts usage in computerized maintenance systems (CMMS).- Work safely in compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and company safety standards.- Collaborate with supervisors, operators, and parts personnel to ensure equipment availability and reliability.Training & DevelopmentThe role begins with a 12-week training program that combines classroom instruction, shop-based learning, and field experience.
