C134.3 is a division within the Quality Assurance Department at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF). The Nuclear Water Chemistry Program oversees the water chemistry controls that are critical in preventing nuclear submarine reactor plant and steam plant system failures. The Chemistry Lab performs a variety of chemical analyses to ensure the purity and chemical composition of the reactor coolant water, which prevents corrosion in the system and the formation of harmful radiation by-products.
This training schedule is an accelerated plan designed for an Engineering Lab Technician (ELT). The goals of the Nuclear Water Chemistry Program are: 1) Provide continuous support towards the operational readiness of the Fleet. 2) Development, implementation, maintenance, and oversight of a quality control program that executes work with first-time quality and reduces quality deficiencies. PHNSY & IMF Chemists and Sailors perform the analysis of customer submitted water samples.
As a minimum required to hold a Finalized Confidential Security Clearance.
Work location is Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility in Honolulu, Hawaii.
