This Skill Bridge internship is designed for transitioning Service Members seeking civilian employment in fire prevention and code enforcement. District 3 Fire Prevention personnel will conduct the training, including the Chief Fire Inspector and assigned fire inspector mentors, using structured classroom instruction and supervised field application.
The program provides certification pathways recognized across the fire service: Hazardous Materials Awareness Level training and an internationally accredited Fire Inspector credential through the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC). IFSAC is a peer-driven, internationally scoped accreditation system that ensures certifications are delivered uniformly and evaluated against nationally recognized professional qualification standards. Interns will complete extensive real-world training through direct mentorship, job shadowing, installation site visits, and supervised inspections across multiple occupancies, and participation in documentation, permitting, and plans review workflows.
