This 91-120 day internship opportunity is located at CDOT's Grand Junction, CO maintenance office. The Colorado Department of Transportation's highway maintenance internship program is an opportunity to learn the various responsibilities of our maintenance workforce.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Highway Maintenance Specialist position provides safe travel for the traveling public by maintaining and upgrading the transportation infrastructure. This includes performing maintenance of roadside surface, facilities, structures, and appearance; providing traffic control and traffic services; operating and maintaining equipment; performing skilled labor activities; and most effectively using resources through active planning and administration. All duties are performed with a safety consciousness and the goal to provide exceptional internal and external customer service. Internship opportunities provide on-the-job training time with a highway maintenance patrol as well as exposure to support roles within maintenance, such as the store room, budget and data reporting, mechanic shop, and tunnel operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
- For permanent positions, a commercial driver's license (CDL) class A or B is required
