The SkillBridge tour member will be cross-trained as an Explosive Equipment/Testing Specialist in all phases of test and evaluation of Explosive Ordnance Disposal equipment (to include, but are not limited to, conceptualization, writing test plans, coordinating assets and resources, field testing, data collection and analysis, reporting, and briefing resultsHe/she will learn to develop, evaluate, test, and maintain a wide range of specialized and unique laboratory and field test instrumentation and equipment as well as commercial off-the-shelf tools and specialized equipment for use in Explosive Ordnance Disposal technology and acquisition programs He/she will acquire the knowledge of how to serve in a test support or test director role as assigned on projects and how to advise on equipment and Explosive Ordnance Disposal procedure technologyHe/she will gain an understanding on how to operate instrumentation and test equipment to support collection of test data
The SkillBridge tour member: Demonstrates practical knowledge of the chemistry of explosives; sound, shock and detonation principles; different means of initiation; developmental and off-the-shelf explosive devices; and shaped charge effects. Facilitates understanding of the design and functioning of improvised explosive devices and categories of domestic and foreign ordnance. Applies knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and mechanical technologies that can be applied to or adapted to function in an improvised manner. Demonstrates practical understanding of test and evaluation practices from initial planning, design of experiments, writing test plans, applying standard operating procedures, designing and fabricating test fixtures, preparing test instrumentation, performing the test, analysis and reporting of test data.
o Specialized experience using Explosive Ordnance Disposal equipment in an operational environmento Work is mostly sedentary with some moderate activity required during laboratory or outdoor field operationso Must be able to pass physical and meet qual/cert requirements to become certified as an explosives handlero Occasional travel required in support of field testing, equipment demonstrations, briefings, or other dutieso Required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes occasionally in accordance with standard operating procedureso May be exposed to the hazard of ordnance and explosiveso Must be able to obtain a secret security clearance or highero Must be a US citizen
