This OJT will increase the participants understanding of CRCL work and provide relevant opportunities to support agency objectives. Participants will be provided opportunities to develop knowledge of program principles, concepts, regulations, practices, analytical methods and techniques to perform routine, multiple, and varying assignments in assigned program areas. Established policies and procedures provide guidance for most assignments but allow some discretion to select the most appropriate approach. Work and use of resources is reviewed frequently during assignments and at completion. Work supports the accomplishments of the organizational unit with occasional broader impact.
The purpose of this position is to lead or perform investigative work of civil rights and liberties, andEEO inspection and oversight activities nationally, which are vital programs, central to the missionof the agency. The work involves research, analysis, and/or evaluation of information supportingongoing investigations. The candidate will assist with national-level civil rights and liberties and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) casework and programmatic oversight of same.Assists in management and provides national-level program assurance for all aspects of civil rights and liberties and EEO casework and programmatic oversight process.Learns monitoring techniques. Helps to ensure necessary reports on completion and recommendations are compiled.The candidate participates in investigations and other activities involving the investigation ofcomplaints about deprivations of civil rights and liberties. Assists in monitoring and evaluating complaint information to detect trends in civil rights and liberties deprivations.
Successful completion of pre-employment background investigation may be required.
Successful completion of this unpaid DHS internship will make the candidate competitive for full-time employment with DHS.
