This internship offers a unique opportunity for transitioning military service members to gain hands-on experience in Human Resources and Comptroller/Finance Management professional within a management consulting firm specialized in the construction industry. Interns will engage in a variety of HR functions, from recruitment and staffing to compliance and employee engagement. Throughout the internship, participants will assist in optimizing construction management processes by supporting the HR needs of a team dedicated to excellence and innovation. Interns will emerge with a thorough understanding of the HR lifecycle, including practical skills in managing employee relations, benefits, and compliance with safety and labor regulations. This experience will be instrumental in preparing for a civilian career in HR, equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute effectively in any HR role. Mentorship from experienced professionals will provide valuable insights and guidance, facilitating a smooth transition to the civilian workforce. The position is also heavily involved in Financial Management tasks.
1. Invoicing and Payroll Oversight: - Coordinate delivery of benefits information and payroll processing with associated banks. - Perform reconciliations of approved leave requests and corresponding timesheets. Oversee invoicing efforts for internal and external contracts. 2. Benefits Oversight, Training and Development Facilitation: - Participate in the annual open enrollment process for employee benefits. - Assist in the development and administration of new training programs and learning paths. - Conduct new hire orientations to provide insights into the company’s history, business, and operational procedures. 3. Recruitment and Staffing Support: - Coordinate job postings, manage incoming applications, and communicate with candidates. - Assist in interviewing processes and initiate background checks for potential hires. 4. Compliance and Safety Management: - Maintain and update HR and Learning Management System (LMS) software. - Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, and state regulations, including maintaining the OSHA compliance log and safety data sheets. - Assist in the administration of the company’s safety, worker’s compensation, and FMLA programs.5. Employee Relations and Engagement: - Assist with overseeing employee relations events and engagement committees. - Develop strategies to increase employee recognition and engagement. - Draft and administer separation agreements and termination procedures.6. Administrative and Reporting Tasks: - Provide reports to management on various HR metrics and needs as identified. - Serve as a backup for the administrative specialist, managing phone calls and other administrative tasks. - Attend job fairs and recruiting events, promoting the company and its opportunities.
High school diploma or equivalent and (3) three to (4) four years of experience in a Human Resources environment providing administrative support to one or more function areas. Associates and Bachelor's degrees, and HR Certification may also be considered in lieu of years of experience.
