ABOUT THE JOB

The Materials Handler role manages inventory, receives and verifies incoming items, and issues stock to authorized personnel. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate inventory records using automated systems and planning efficient loading/unloading procedures. Additionally, this position operates high-speed saws to cut various metal stock to specified dimensions. The role also involves updating stock records and applying barcodes to incoming items. Duties equivalent to WG-6907-06.PHYSICAL EFFORT: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work rapidly for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, materials and equipment weighing up to 44 pounds unassisted and heavier with assistance of coworker or lifting device. Climbs and walks on trucks and storage tanks while checking the quantity of petroleum and other incoming products. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work may be done inside in areas that hot, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted. Work is accomplished outside on open docks and in storage yards subject to poor weather conditions. The work frequently results in exposure to dirt, dust, and grease and presents the danger of cuts, scrapes, bruises, falls and other injuries from material handling equipment.
