The Junior Estimator supports the estimating team in preparing mechanical construction bids and proposals. This entry-level role involves assisting with quantity take-off, pricing, and proposal development for HVAC and mechanical systems in healthcare, institutional, commercial, and higher education projects. The Junior Estimator will work closely with senior estimators and project teams to gain experience and develop expertise in mechanical construction estimating. The Junior Estimator will work closely with senior estimators and project teams to gain experience and develop expertise in mechanical construction estimating. Applicants with Military experience are encouraged to apply. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInclude the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.- Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future projects.- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.- Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.- Assist in analyzing drawings and specifications to support mechanical estimates.- Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.- Review contract and bid documents; review and understand scope for project turnover- Attend walk-throughs, pre-bid and scope clarification meetings.- Quantitative take-off and data entry into Autobid and Excel.- Prepare scope letters and proposals.- Maintain relationships with customers, General Contractors, vendors and subcontractors.- Ability to perform design/build, conceptual and budget estimates.- Coordinate the efforts of junior and staff-level resources in performing take-offs, issuing bills of material to vendors and obtaining subcontractor quotes.- Ensure documents are centrally saved in the company’s drive within the confidential estimating folder(s).- Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes in work.- Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Vice President of Preconstruction with recommendation for resolution.- Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.- Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
