Interns in the Branscomb Law Job Training Program will assume meaningful, hands-on responsibility supporting both legal and operational functions within a multi-practice law firm. Internship assignments are tailored to the participant’s military experience, education, and career objectives and may include placement in Legal Clerk, Paralegal, Information Technology Support, Administrative Support, or other law office operational roles.Depending on assignment, interns may assist with legal research, document drafting and review, discovery support, case organization, and litigation preparation or support firm operations through technology support, systems administration, document management, workflow coordination, records maintenance, scheduling, billing support, and general administrative functions. All duties are performed under appropriate supervision by licensed attorneys, IT professionals, or administrative managers, ensuring compliance with ethical, professional, and operational standards.This internship provides structured, real-world training in a fast-paced law firm environment, offering exposure to legal practice, legal technology, and professional office operations. The program is designed to develop transferable civilian skills while supporting transitioning service members through mentorship, hands-on experience, and guided professional development.
Attorneys must be actively seeking admission to practice law in the State of Texas and hold a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an American Bar Association (ABA)–accredited law school. Paralegals, IT support, accounting, and administrative participants must possess education, training, or experience relevant to their assigned functions and will perform all duties under appropriate supervision consistent with Texas ethical standards and unauthorized practice of law requirements. All participants must be eligible for the Department of Defense SkillBridge program, comply with firm confidentiality and information security policies, and be able to work in a professional office environment in accordance with established supervision and reporting protocols.
