This program will prepare NREMT-P providers for employment at an ambulance service, hospital, fire department, and other settings requiring pre-hospital care.
Silverton Medical Rescue is offering a unique opportunity to practice emergency medicine in one of the nation's most beautiful and challenging environments – San Juan County, Colorado. Duties will include both traditional pre-hospital care and technical rescue. Other duties may be assigned according to an Intern's training and experience. Training opportunities for Interns may include any of the following: Continuing education required to maintain a current EMT-P license, technical rope rescue, swiftwater rescue, avalanche rescue, off-highway vehicle (OHV) operation, civilian medical protocols, and care of diverse civilian populations. Interns will typically work a "40-on 128-off" schedule (40 consecutive hours on-duty followed by 128 hours off-duty each week). While off-duty, Interns may, at their own discretion, respond to medical as well as Search and Rescue calls.
Applicants must possess, or be able to obtain, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (NREMT-P) certification and be qualified to practice as a paramedic in the State of Colorado prior to the start of service with Silverton Medical Rescue.See state requirements here:- https://cdphe.colorado.gov/emergency-care/emergency-medical-services/ems-providers/ems-provider-certification.Applicants must have experience with technical rescue and must be able to travel in mountainous terrain in all conditions without assistance. The learning sequence will follow the demands of on-the-job training. Medics at Silverton Medical Rescue will respond to emergencies alongside a roster of colleagues holding a wide variety of specialized skills.The agency is recognized by the State of Colorado as an Emergency Medical Services Education Group. Staff and volunteers with Silverton Medical Rescue host an annual conference on emergency medicine in austere environments.
