The Clinical Dietitian participant will complete a 16-week structured training assignment designed for a degree-prepared, licensure-eligible dietitian candidate. The participant will rotate through inpatient, outpatient, and long-term acute care nutrition services. Training will include observation, supervised on-the-job learning, interdisciplinary exposure, patient education preparation, documentation workflow training, feedback sessions, resume support, and final employment readiness assessment.All clinical activities will occur under appropriate supervision and in accordance with employer policy, credentialing status, licensure status, and scope-of-practice requirements.
Participants will work alongside experienced clinical dietitians, nutrition services staff, providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to gain practical experience in nutrition assessment, patient education, care planning, documentation, and healthcare operations. The program may be tailored based on the participant’s licensure status, clinical interests, prior experience, and organizational needs.Participants may rotate through a variety of clinical and operational nutrition areas, including but not limited to:Acute care hospital unitsLong-term acute care or transitional care settingsSkilled nursing or swing bed environmentsOutpatient clinicsDiabetes education or chronic disease management programsNutrition services and food service operationsInterdisciplinary care team meetingsAdministrative and program development experiences
This is designed for a degree-prepared, licensure-eligible dietitian candidates or ones who are able to have ND licensure by start of OJT.
