This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS); Office of Partnershipand Engagement (OPE). The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Partnership andEngagement Specialist within OPE. The incumbent is responsible to support a variety ofPartnership and Engagement activities. Provides support to a variety of Partnership and Engagement activities, relating to administrative, research and analytical duties and a variety to liaison activities and special assignments related to the mission and functions of the office.
Researches, evaluates, prioritizes and recommends solutions to problems issues encountered inintergovernmental affairs. Develops and maintains ongoing effective contact with SLTT officials and their staffs. Responds to administrative and programmatic problems brought to the attention of the supervisor and relieves the supervisor of interruptions and demands on his/her time by independently handling matters or coordinating with the appropriate individual(s).Conducts briefings on special project and sensitive administrative programmatic issues. Draftscorrespondence and DHS legislative documents and related material along with printed media foroutside distribution.Works with Partnership and Engagement staff on strategizing, designing and implementing advocacy efforts in support of projects and initiatives. Assists in coordinating actions, which may require review and analysis of legislation, and regulatory actions that may affect SLTT offices and transmit information to SLTT officials and their staffs as appropriate. Develops and manages the process.Participates in special projects and initiatives and performs special assignments. Identifies theneed for special projects and initiates milestones and goals. Evaluates reports by analyzing factsand performing appropriate research and prepares detailed responses. Determines appropriaterecommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up. Researchsand determines or recommends appropriate actions or interpretation of issues impacting theserviced organizations. Prepares and presents briefings. Prepares and analyzes reports; responses to queries, justifications, and background papers on the technical aspects of areas of expertise andassignment. Researches and determines or recommends appropriate actions or interpretation ofissues impacting the organization. Serves as the independent technical authority for theorganization. Represents the organization on working groups; steering groups; or other meetings,conferences, seminars, etc.
