C280 The Planning Yard is the Navy's Design agent for all non-nuclear installations on a class of ships. The activities involved in the Planning Yard functions include: Development of Engineering Drawings, Monitor and make engineering projections for ships distributive systems, Maintain ship's Configuration Control database, Engineering Configuration Manager for Carriers, Agent to NAVSEA for review and approval of refueling overhaul drawings, Update Ship's Selected Record Technical documentation.
ABOUT THE JOB
Job Title: Configuration Data Management, GS-05 through GS-11Job Description: The C281 primary function of this position is being responsible for supporting COMNAVSEASYSCOM Configuration Management and four Planning and Execution shipyard processes: Configuration Data Management (CDM), Configuration Overhaul Planning (COP), Bill of Material - Long Lead time Material (LLTM) Identification, Logistics Product Delivery and Installed Equipment Configuration Verification. Configuration Data Manager (CDM) - for the ARDM class ships and in partnership with Carrier Planning Activity (CPA) to support configuration data management of CVN 68 & 78 class carriers. CDM acts as control authority for accuracy and completeness of the information in the Ship Configuration & Logistics Support Information System (SCLSIS) database. Accuracy of the SCLSIS database directly affects the Navy's ability to efficiently plan and perform maintenance, accomplish alterations, and provide necessary logistics support.Configuration Overhaul Planning (COP) - planning process to update SCLSIS database of configuration worthy changes of installed or removed equipment related to planned modernization or repair changes to U.S. Navy assets. Assets to include; material or equipment requiring supply parts support, test equipment, technical manuals, and/or repair standards, PMS, intermediate and/or depot level maintenance plans, drawings, or other maintenance requirement documentation.Long Lead Time Material Identification - document the research of material and equipment availability, which determines supply system availability and cost to support repair or modernization efforts.Logistics Product Delivery System- a process used to track logistics product/ documentation delivery to the appropriate ship force department, thus ensuring functions, assignments, and responsibilities of the Naval Supervising Activity (NSA) are achieved.Configuration Verification – supports the accuracy of the SCLSIS database. Verification is accomplished by means of actual sight, lay hands on the installed equipment, as well as, verifying that planned equipment removal was in fact removed. The verified data is then sent to CDM so equipment configuration and status can be updated. The skill set and experience level needed to be a successful configuration data analysis comes from years of US Navy or US Coast Guard ship system operation and maintenance, in such technical ratings as Machinist Mate (MM), Electrician Mate (EM), Electronic Technicians (ET), Fire Control Technician (FC), Engineman (EN), Hull Technician (HT), Damage Control (DC), etc. It can also include the Aviation equivalent ratings, such as AT, AE, AME, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support COMNAVSEASYSCOM Configuration Management.
- Manage Configuration Data Management (CDM), Configuration Overhaul Planning (COP), Bill of Material - Long Lead Time Material (LLTM) Identification, Logistics Product Delivery, and Installed Equipment Configuration Verification.
- Act as control authority for the accuracy and completeness of the Ship Configuration & Logistics Support Information System (SCLSIS) database.
- Plan updates to the SCLSIS database for configuration worthy changes due to modernization or repair.
- Verify installed equipment configuration and update status in the SCLSIS database.
QUALIFICATIONS
- US Citizenship.
- Ability to gain a Security Clearance.
- Pass a background check.
- Experience in US Navy or US Coast Guard ship system operation and maintenance in technical ratings such as MM, EM, ET, FC, EN, HT, DC, or Aviation equivalent ratings like AT, AE, AME.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY
You must be a US Citizen, be able to gain a Security Clearance, pass a background check, and potentially pass a drug screening. This position is on location at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.
