Development Engineering Technician- Mechanical The goal of the Woodward System Test Facility is to provide SkillBridge participants with the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to successfully perform the role of Development Engineering Technician in a civilian environment. This 16-week training plan is designed to leverage the participants’ existing military skillset while building new technical and professional competencies through a structured combination of classroom instruction, online learning, and hands-on activities. Dedicated trainers and mentors will guide participants throughout the process, ensuring they gain exposure to real-world applications and industry best practices. The Dev. Tech is responsible for assisting in the assembly of components and systems, conducting basic tests, and analyzing results according to established procedures. The role requires identifying straightforward technical issues and collaborating with senior team members to implement solutions. Individuals with experience in the aerospace industry and a strong background and working knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical and/or pneumatic systems are highly encouraged to apply! This position emphasizes learning and following documented processes while contributing insights to improve workflows and tools. While there are no direct leadership responsibilities, the position supports team objectives and provides reliable assistance to ensure successful project outcomes. Key Responsibilities:Assembly: Assemble components and systems with increasing complexity. Modify and/or repair components under minimal supervision. Assist in troubleshooting issues. Problem Solving & Troubleshooting: Identify and propose solutions for moderately complex issues with components or systems. Collaborate with stakeholders and implement solution.Testing and Analysis: Conduct moderately complex tests on components and systems with some independence. Record and analyze test results and provide preliminary findings to engineering teams Process Improvement: Suggest improvements to existing processes or tools based on hands-on experience. Participate in creating or updating process documentation. Team Leadership: Act as a resource for entry-level technicians by guiding them on basic tasks and safety procedures.
