PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONOperators are instrumental to the company’s success. Safety, efficiency and pride are key attributes of an excellent operator. We are 100% SC Certified Drug Free WorkplaceRESPONSIBILITIESTo operate equipment safely, and efficiently while adhering to all company policies and MSHA/OSHA regulations, while meeting all production goals.• Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks• Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required• Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored• Participate in routine maintenance to include but not limited to greasing and fueling equipment daily• Practice workplace safety• General daily preventative equipment maintenance• Light labor work as neededHeavy Equipment can be defined as:• Excavator (GPS Experience)• Haul truck (rigid frame / articulated)• Bulldozer (GPS Experience)• Motor grader• Roller• Water truck• Backhoe• Farm tractorKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND REQUIREMENTSKnowledge• Equipment operation and maintenance• Equipment safety• General site preparation techniques and procedures• Knowledge of operation of front end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, and other pieces of heavy equipment• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage• Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures• Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and proceduresSkills:• Ability to operate all types of equipment according to the manufacturers recommendations• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner• Client service and public interaction skills• Team building• Analytical and problem solving skills• Decision making skills• Effective verbal and listening communications skills• Ability to communicate effectively in English• Ability to read and write to record pickups and maintain daily records• Stress management skills• Time management skillsPersonal Attributes:• Be honest, trustworthy and respectful• Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity• Be flexible• Demonstrate sound work ethics• Deal with the public in a positive, courteous and respectful mannerRequirements:• Must have a valid driver’s license with less than (3) moving violations in (3) years• Must be able to pass drug / alcohol screenings• Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.• Must be able to pass a Physical WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical Demands:The Heavy Equipment Operator has a physically strenuous and mentally demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects. The Heavy Equipment Operator will have to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold. The Heavy Equipment Operator must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient way.Environmental Conditions:The Heavy Equipment Operator must work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. He/she may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.Sensory Demands:He/she may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.Mental Demands:The Heavy Equipment Operator must work both independently and with the team and is expected to maintain a schedule of work. Any problems or inconveniences may result in increased stress to complete tasks in a limited time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
- Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required
