The position will provide participants with on-the-job training for low voltage electrical systems including networking, video surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection systems.
The LV Technician Apprentice will work with multiple aspects of the low voltage installation process and with multiple systems. After instruction and demonstration on the job, the Technician will work under the site Foreman and Team Lead and will be responsible for cable pulling, terminations, testing, labeling, and device installation. This position will require willingness to learn aspects of each of these disciplines: Structured Cabling, CCTV, Access Control, and Intrusion Detection.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Follow safe work practices and company/client work site policiesTake instruction and strive for a high quality of work even while learningPerform the installation of structured cabling and security systemsHave basic knowledge of and the ability to interpret blueprints/drawings/specificationsPerform testing and troubleshooting as demonstrated by leadInstall cameras, access control devices, and intrusion detection devicesTerminate, label, test and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic installationsUse a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of timeMaintain a professional appearance and demeanorPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:Must have or be willing to get basic hand and LV toolsBasic understanding of industry standards and best install practices as set forth by TIA/BICSIHigh school diploma or equivalentValid driver’s licenseMust be able to pass state/federal background checkMust be able to pass a 10-panel drug screeningDependable vehicleAbility to meet deadlinesWORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office and construction environment. Ability to use a computer and/or hand/power tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, use hands, stoop, kneel, bend, rotate, push, pull, reach with hands and arms on intermittent to regular basis daily. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly carry and climb up to 20’ ladders. The employee may be required to work in tight, confided spaces. The employee must demonstrate regular and on-time attendance.
