Candidates for this and every DoD SkillBridge internship opportunity with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are able to intern for 180, 120, and 90 days and MUST be at least 11 months away from separation. Why 11 months? We are able to host SkillBridge interns for their final 180, 120, and/or 90 days on active-duty depending on the individual service-member’s situation. We use the time prior to their finite internship dates to complete our required HR actions to include getting them in front of hiring managers, having interviews conducted, selection decisions being made, “Qualifications Reviews” successfully completed on their resumes clearly demonstrating that they have the required experience, etc. for the positions for which they are being considered, along with a 3 to 5 month (on average) full CBP Background Investigation (BI) that MUST be completed prior to internship start dates.This Communications Specialist internship affords participants the opportunity to serve as an Office of Public Affairs contact and project manager for internal campaigns and special projects. Assists in developing, evaluating, and overseeing the implementation of internal communication plans, ensuring publications and communication materials are consistent, accurate, and aligns with the Agency’s priorities. The incumbent plans, writes, and edits internal and external publications and other communication materials to keep employees acquainted with CBP programs and news. Builds and maintains relationships with subject matter experts and internal and external stakeholders to provide current, accurate, and audience appropriate information using the proper communication channels.
ABOUT THE JOB
Plans, coordinates, and drafts messages for mass dissemination to Agency employees, including, but not limited to, agency newsletters, email notifications, and messages from/on behalf of leadership. Ensures messages and content are accurate, consistent, timely, and sent using the proper channels to the appropriate audience.Tasks: Assists in reviewing and assessing communication programs and products for accuracy and effectiveness. The incumbent analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of CBP’s communications programs and products and recommends specific solutions tailored to the nature of the issues encountered and the targeted audiences. Identifies current, emerging, and/ or potential problems and develops and advises on the implementation of solutions based on research. Provide status reports on managed programs.Writes and edits internal and external communication products and materials for use across internal and external platforms. Serves as a backup Web Content Administrator for the Office of Public Aff
RESPONSIBILITIES
