This program is designed for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, and operating with a strong safety-first mindset.Interns will learn how to:Conduct natural gas leak surveys using specialized detection equipmentInspect gas distribution systems and document findingsFollow federal, state, and local safety regulationsRead utility maps and use mobile technology in the fieldCommunicate professionally with customers and the publicWork independently and as part of a field operations teamThis opportunity provides paid training, industry-recognized certifications, and exposure to career paths in utility operations, environmental safety, and field leadership. No prior industry experience is required.Ideal candidates are dependable, adaptable, safety-focused, and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. The role involves daily walking, physical activity, and the use of technology and hand tools in field environments.This SkillBridge program aligns well with military experience in operations, logistics, maintenance, safety, engineering support, transportation, and field services.Upon successful completion of the program, participants may be considered for full-time employment opportunities with Heath Careers, including long-term career growth into senior technician and leadership positions.
Participants in this SkillBridge opportunity will gain hands-on experience performing the following duties:Conduct natural gas leak surveys on distribution systems using specialized gas detection equipmentInspect pipelines, meters, and related utility infrastructure to identify potential gas leaks and safety concernsAccurately document inspection findings, leak locations, and compliance information using mobile technology and reporting systemsFollow company safety procedures and federal, state, and local regulations related to natural gas operationsRead and interpret utility maps and locate assigned survey areasWalk assigned routes daily while performing field inspections in residential, commercial, and public areasOperate and maintain company-approved detection equipment and simple hand toolsCommunicate professionally with homeowners, customers, and members of the public while conducting field workWork outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions while maintaining productivity and safety standardsCollaborate with supervisors and field teams to complete assigned projects and survey schedulesDevelop proficiency in utility safety practices, hazard recognition, and incident preventionParticipate in paid training and certification programs related to gas leak detection and compliance operationsThis opportunity provides practical experience in utility operations, public safety, environmental protection, field technology, and regulatory compliance.
