This SkillBridge Apprenticeship is designed to help transitioning service members bridge their Military Aircraft Maintenance experience with the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Title 14CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Part 145 requirements. The program requires the applicant to complete On-The-Job Training (OJT) to prepare for FAA testing and certification. If an A&P is not obtained within the apprenticeship timeline, our proven Troops-to-Technicians Program will be offered to guide the new employee through the remainder of the certification process.
AMT apprentices support heavy maintenance operations on Boeing 737, Boeing 757, Boeing 767, and Airbus A320 Family aircraft. Under licensed supervision, apprentices perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and inspections in alignment with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals, customer requirements, and FAA regulations. All training and OJT hours will be logged and utilized toward eligibility for the FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant certification exams.
Aircraft Maintenance experience preferred (1-5 years min). Possess the legal ability to obtain an Airframe and(or) Powerplant license. Able to obtain airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) access. Successful completion of pre-screening (background and DOT drug screen).Can perform maintenance practices safely & in a timely manner, can read and interpret maintenance manuals/schematics, technical ability with powered and non-powered tools, hardware identification, can communicate & understand in the English language, ability to use modern computer software and Knowledge of Microsoft Office.Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodations1. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, and walk for extended periods.2. Must be able to climb and work from ladders, work stands, and other heights.3. Must be able to work with one or both hands extended overhead.4. Must have correctable near and far vision.5. Must be able to hear at conversational level with hearing aid.6. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.7. Must be able to handle and maintain control of small parts and to properly operate hand tools.

Salary listed ($45,760) is for an unlicensed mechanic upon successful completion of apprenticeship, while a licensed mechanic with approximately 5 years of experience is $62,504. Salary rises with number of years of experience.We also have another location in Tampa, FL that utilizes this program and the closest DOW facility to them is MacDill AFB.
