We are seeking a highly skilled former US Navy Logistics Specialist (LS) to join our team at the In-Service Engineering Activity (ISEA) in Newport, RI. Your firsthand understanding of Navy supply chains, material research, and procurement is critical to resolving complex logistical bottlenecks. In this role, you will be the vital link between engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and the supply system, driving the resolution of Engineering Support Requests (ESR) and conducting deep-dive item research to ensure the fleet gets the right material on time.
As a former LS, you are familiar with the frustration of parts being delayed due to technical, obsolescence, or engineering hold-ups. In this role, you will use your fleet expertise in research and supply chain management to track, expedite the resolution of ESRs (formerly DLA-339s) and NAVSUP WSS Technical Referrals (TR). Your background is needed to bridge the gap between NAVSEA ISEA engineers, Waterfront Coordinators (WFCs), the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and NAVSUP WSS.Key ResponsibilitiesResolution Ownership & SME Support: Act as the primary driver of ESRS case resolutions on behalf of the ISEA. Serve as a logistics Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the SONAR systems managed, proactively identifying complex cases where additional technical or supply support is required.System Deconfliction (OMIS & METIS): Cross-reference and check internal engineering databases, including OMIS and METIS, to identify if ESRS cases are already being addressed through existing obsolescence or engineering pipelines, preventing duplicate efforts.Comprehensive Item Research: Conduct in-depth research on National Stock Numbers (NSNs), part numbers, and technical data. Utilize standard DoD/Navy logistics tools (e.g., FEDLOG, Haystack, WebFLIS, One Touch Support) to identify alternate sources, substitutes, or address procurement bottlenecks.ESRS Case Management & Workflow: Accept, reject, assign, forward, and re-route ESRs within the standardized ESRS workflow program of record. Review completed ESRs to ensure the engineering response is actionable for supply personnel and that all follow-on logistics steps are clearly defined.Qualifications & RequirementsMilitary Experience: 4+ years of experience serving as a US Navy Logistics Specialist (LS) or in an equivalent DoD supply/logistics role.Item Research Expertise: High proficiency in conducting technical and item research using DoD logistics databases (FEDLOG, Haystack, One Touch, etc.) to cross-reference parts and resolve identification issues.Supply Chain Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of Navy and DLA supply systems, material procurement, requisition tracking, and overall fleet support operations.Technical Familiarity: Familiarity with navigating complex supply-engineering interfaces (handling Technical Referrals and DLA-339s) and an aptitude for learning engineering tracking systems like OMIS and METIS.Analytical & Communication Skills: Strong ability to translate technical engineering determinations into actionable supply chain solutions and communicate effectively with WFCs and engineering SMEs.Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
