EMT-B Training (Rookie School)MEMS offers college level training at our headquarters in downtown Little Rock.  MEMS EMT-B training, otherwise known as Rookie School, is usually held 3 times each year.OUR NEXT PROGRAM BEGINS JANUARY 19, 2026!APPLICATION PROCESS WILL BEGIN IN SEPTEMBER. To be considered for MEMS EMT Rookie School, you must meet these requirements:High School diploma or equivalent.Valid Arkansas driver’s license and acceptable driving record.Minimum age of 19.Must be physically fit and able to pass a physical examination.Must have acceptable scores on the college placement Accuplacer exam, which is offered onsite at MEMS at no cost. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.Must pass a criminal background check. Suitable and qualified candidates are selected for Rookie School which is full time M-F 7a-4p commitment. After successfully completing the program and obtaining an Arkansas license and National Registry certification, full-time commitment continues with on-the-job field training. ABOUT THE JOB

Provide care to emergency and non-emergency patients; maintain a good working relationship with all customer groups and agencies. Restores and promotes patient’s health by assisting Paramedics in providing life support and transport of sick and injured persons in and out of hospital settings as authorized by established medical protocol or a physician; operating an emergency vehicle; activating and collaborating with emergency medical systems and working to assure the accomplishment of MEMS’ goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide care to emergency and non-emergency patients

  • Operate an emergency vehicle
  • Activate and collaborate with emergency medical systems and work to assure the accomplishment of MEMS’ goals

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum age of 19
