ABOUT THE JOB

Production Machinery Repairer Helpers inspects, replaces defective parts, cleans, adjusts, services and repairs a variety of machinery, equipment and machine tools. Assists higher grade employees in repair and rework of a variety of complex machine tools and fixed industrial plant equipment. Assures safety requirements and housekeeping rules are followed and that personal protective equipment is properly used. Duties equivalent to WG-5350-05 with promotional potential to WG-08.PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending and stooping. In addition, the work requires lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds with assistance of other workers of lifting devices. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather. Inside work areas can range from well lit, climatically controlled to poorly illuminated work areas. Exposed to noise and dust from power saws, hammers, nailing machines, and related equipment. Subject to bruises, cuts, and other injuries from using hand and power tools. Safety equipment and protective devices are used to minimize hazards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect, replace defective parts, clean, adjust, service and repair a variety of machinery, equipment and machine tools.
  • Assist higher grade employees in repair and rework of a variety of complex machine tools and fixed industrial plant equipment.
  • Assure safety requirements and housekeeping rules are followed and that personal protective equipment is properly used.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, bending and stooping.
  • Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds with assistance.
  • Work in various weather conditions and in different lighting and temperature environments.
